On the last day of 2011, I just want to say my grateful to Allah who gave me all of this gift. Allah who protect’s me, who gives me and my family healthy.

I hope, I must and I will do the best for 2012.

Working at principal company is different. I don’t say its hard, because sometimes the problem is caused by something that really easy. I know that some of you have a lot of technical skill and then a lot of experience of trouble shooting.  You might have good knowledge of networking and switching. And can you answer every single question from ‘costumer’ which i can say a costumer that makes everything  to be questioned.

Dear Principal, can you describe this log means. Regards Costumer.

The costumer send an email to us, with a log inside attachment . The log has abnormal alarm. And guest what? we didnt know the alarm means. We opened a lot of supporting document. We captured and compared it. We traced the time logs, and saw every single command that is inserted by our team. And we hoped that we didnt open the case ticket.

After we found some answer, then we replied the email. And hope this answer can satisfy our customer.

This just some example. We must prepare everything. Skill is a must, be ready to face un-technical stuff.. its important to.

yes, here I’am at Dubai. First time I arrived here, got surprise with my  un-delivered visa. So I need to stay at $65-per-hour-hotel for almost 4 hours. Before that, I didn’t know if there are hotel inside the airport. So I spend for almost 8 hours at chair that provide by the airport. And this situation happened after 8 hours flight. Dont forget about jet-lag, so I was alive for 27 hours a day in that time.

Maybe I’m not very Lucky at the first day, and hope for better day for tomorrow (today by date). then i was surprise again by my manager. He said that my future customer isn’t great for sure to be a customer. So, i need to prepare everything to make everything smooth. I’m gonna work by shift, for 24/7 to support this customer. And also I have difrent of coplexity of network. This network is the most complex network for my entire life. so many services inside, and mostly  use latest technology i ever know in networking world. beside that, i cannot access the network if there is no permit or something urgent. this is  makes situation worse.

Alone in this country makes me homesick very fast. I already have homesick right now. no friend, no family and no one to talk Indonesian makes you sick fast, trust me. I had confidence before that i can hold my homesickness, but i was wrong. remembering the future-customer only makes it worse.

It’s hard for me to make friend with somebody. even in Indonesia, i only speak that i need to speak, if not i prefer to be silent. So, silent combine with english-spoken-people makes me harder to make friends. Now, I’m not a good English-speaker yet. I must think every word and sentence in my mind before i spoke it. So, i need to use my brain twice. Fist for thinking what I’m gonna say. and then translate it. And the good news is, i need to do this all the times. PERFECT

So that all for 2 days from triple stress country. and Finally i live in the same county with triple CCIE from Indonesia.

what makes a engineer want to stay on their company? for me the answer is “we are in same breath”

when the company want their engineer to explore their knowledge, self learn the process, drill their capability to get the international certificate  and also doing a task with high pressure and a lot of troubleshoot. For me all i mention above its a gift.

as member of team, i usually get a ‘real task’ is one task per month. ‘real task’ this mean is when a task cant be solved with normal procedure.  And this task is i loved most. The key of this task is google, and many happen in interoperability on other vendors. so exploring the world wide its getting new stuff for me.

as a worker of the company, we all have same chance to get a international certificate. no training, no bootcamp, and no testdump. But we all get same book, same lab, and same chance. buzzy its not an excuse, if you want it then take it. This certificate its very very help for know the process deeply. And also a provement in level of international.

As certificate engineer of team, doing task with pressure its a gift. Many task comes from consultant to doing a trial, many task from leader. And got the first time task of start the project give more pressure in there, and when its solved and done its paid with sanctification. A lot of troubleshoot help me remember, and memory comes from troubleshoot its priceless to me cause i hardly forget it.

for me, all stuff above is my breath, and the company provide it to me. Don’t care how much the salary it was, and right now I’m very enjoy at bottom level as network engineer.
